In the early 1990's, under the leadership of president Robert Priddy, the foundation increased the size of the board and continued to add non-family members as trustees. Also, Robert Priddy and his wife Ruby began to make substantial annual gifts to the foundation.
Together with Berneice Leath, who served as the foundation's executive director from 1983 until her retirement on December 31, 1999, Robert Priddy has transformed a small family foundation into a major community asset. Although he retired as president on December 31, 1998, after 25 years of service, he continues to have a strong interest in the foundation and serves as trustee emeritus. |
Today the foundation is governed by a committed board of community leaders who count it a privilege to continue the legacy of the Priddy family. The Priddy Foundation makes grants principally in the areas of human services, education, the arts, and health, with geographical concentrations in Wichita Falls, Dallas, and their surrounding areas. Robert Priddy's legacy is not just in the formative role that he has played nor in the substantial gifts that he has made, but also in the way that he has provided for the foundation's future as a philanthropic entity. He has made it clear that the task of governing the foundation belongs to the trustees and that the funds with which they have been entrusted are the stewardship responsibility of the trustees. |
